Experts analyzed the evolution of business in the healthcare sector at the MediTalk Summit 2023 event.

Surgeon Héctor Sánchez Navarro, director of the only Robotic Surgery Center in the Dominican Republic, pointed out that robot-assisted surgery has been a reality for more than two decades.

The laparoscopic, bariatric and robotic surgeon said that changes are coming too fast and in order to adapt it is necessary to strengthen collaborative work, regardless of the role played in the healthcare industry.

“For us it has been key to work together, for example, to identify the disorder of obesity is too frequent in the population and it is good that the specialists are preparing themselves, because we must provide a better global and comprehensive service to the patient who seeks the highest level,” said the deputy director of the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS).

Both teamwork and breaking down paradigms are elements that Dr. Sánchez Navarro identified as an important part of providing a comprehensive service to each patient, he said during his participation in the panel “CEO and the great minds of the industry” at MediTalk Summit 2023.

He also stated that the technology applied to the surgical field is impressive and robotic surgery is already a reality; he said that in the Dominican Republic, Homs was the pioneer in robotic surgery and took on the challenge in 2013 by bringing this innovation, overcoming skepticism.

Along with the director of Meta Íntegra, the panel moderated by Eric Moreno, Academic Director of Barna Management School Health Programs, also included Ernesto Martínez, president of Farmacia Los Hidalgos; and Luis Franco, CEO of Centro Médico Dominico Cubano, who stressed the need to be adaptable.
