HOMS Foundation
Who are we?
We are a non-profit organization oriented to develop a social, educational and research work; providing tertiary health services to patients without resources or health coverage, encouraging the training of health professionals to improve their skills and promoting research as a differential element of quality care.
The HOMS Foundation arose as an initiative of Dr. Rafael Sánchez Español, general director of HOMS, and began its first actions in 2007, being in March 2008 when it was established as a legal entity, with its own legal personality.

Values
As an integral part of Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago, we seek that all members of the Foundation preserve the values we wish to transmit.
- Humanism: The person is the central axis of our mission. We consider each person as a whole. We work to achieve a society of people who are equal in rights and also equal in commitment and obligations to others.
- Optimism: Our optimism stems from a deep trust in human potential. We are convinced that any problematic situation can always be improved. We work on optimism with our users and volunteers with effectiveness, efficiency, relevance and humanity.
- Spirit of self-improvement: To bring professionalism, quality and willingness to improve to the job.
- Ethical behavior: Manage, work and act with ethical criteria at all levels of the organization.
- Good governance: "To be accountable" to society for the management and use of the foundational resources entrusted to us.
Areas addressed by the foundation
Our Foundation aims to concentrate its activities in three main areas (social, training and research) to avoid dispersion of efforts and thus optimize its results.
Maintain the focus on social programs, cardiology, pediatric and orthopedic care days. Expand the scope of key social activities – the fight against cancer – through projects to support training and development activities with our volunteers.
To be a promoter in health-centered strategy. To focus the activity on the training of young health professionals and researchers, transferring the advances and results of research to the field of clinical practice.
