The environment and your eyes

One of the most relevant organs of the human body, which is constantly used by people, is the eye. Despite the importance of the sense of sight, the relationship between the environment and the eyes is often overlooked. This causes the eyes to be subjected to different variables, which over time can degenerate into various discomforts.

Both pollutants from different industrial chemicals and natural agents in the environment can drastically irritate the eyes, thus affecting people’s health. Air pollution can cause diseases in the internal organs of the body, but especially affects the eyes, which are almost always exposed to contact with the environment.

Among the symptoms that may occur are discomfort such as irritation, itching, burning, redness or even major infections caused by exposure of the eyes to viral agents. These diseases are transmitted through the environment and children are among the most prone to contract them.

The eyes are very sensitive to the environment and all the pollution that is in the air can damage the different layers of the eye. Also, being such an exposed organ, the eye can suffer different blows, wounds or damages that can affect its function. It is therefore important for people to protect their eyes from the various natural elements, or not, found in the environment and thus avoid hurting this sensitive part of the body.

It is important to highlight the importance of having your vision examined regularly by a person specialized in the area of eye health, in order to avoid future complications. In addition, the use of appropriate resources for eye care is of utmost importance.
