HOMS receives recognition for its contribution to health tourism in the Santiago destination
Last year the hospital received certification from Accreditation Canada for having care processes focused on quality and patient safety with world-class standards.
The organizing committee of Expoturismo 2023, the most traditional tourism fair held in the Cibao region, together with the Santiago Tourism Destination Cluster, recognized the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS) for its important achievements and contributions to the development of health tourism, favoring the strengthening of the Santiago destination.
The executive director of the fair, Carmen Yomaris Gómez, said that in this 26th edition of the largest tourism promotion platform in the northern region, HOMS was recognized for the important international certification received from Accreditation Canada (ACI), which raises the quality of health services, in line with scientific and technological advances in the world, thus boosting health and medical tourism in the northern region.
Upon receiving the award, Dr. Héctor Sánchez Navarro, deputy general director of HOMS, said he was very grateful for the effort and persistence of the competitive, vocational and strongly committed teams that make up the hospital, being a reference in innovation and quality of care.
“In 15 years, at HOMS we have contributed to improving healthcare in our country and the region, through greater specialization, with the incorporation of highly specialized and differentiating services, such as robotic surgery; we still have many challenges and a long way to go,” said Dr. Sánchez Navarro.
During the activity held at the Hodelpa Gran Almirante Convention Center in Santiago, and also attended by José Clase, member of the Board of Directors of HOMS, they emphasized that the vision of HOMS is to be the leading private hospital in the Dominican Republic and an international model, and for this reason they are immersed in the development of the Homs Health and Wellness Center (HHWC), to complement their current health tourism service offer.
HOMS is a member of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism and the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores).
According to the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) in its most recent study called Medical Tourism Index of 2020-2021, our country is the number 1 destination in the Caribbean, number 2 in Latin America.
