During a ceremony held in the auditorium of the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago, the Department of Medical Residencies celebrated the awarding of certificates for the 2016 graduating class. The resident physicians, who completed their specialist training, received degrees in five advanced areas of medicine.

Dr. Rafael Sánchez Español, president of the administrative council of HOMS, who urged all the new professionals to assume their commitment with complete dedication and with the firm intention of always exercising their vocation in accordance with ethical values.

The Head of the Department of Medical Education, Dr. Estelio Arvelo, motivated the new specialists by telling them that “the practice of medicine is a ladder, whose steps we must be careful when stepping on, not because of our weight, but because of the error of our actions. We must prepare ourselves adequately and review our cases carefully, always thinking of the patient”.

The graduates were certified as specialists in internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, radiology and intensive care.

With this sixth graduation, HOMS increases the number of its graduates to more than 50 doctors from different branches of medicine, providing society with a group of professionals committed to serving their communities.
