Post-bariatric surgery is the solution to remove all the excess skin in patients who have lost a large amount of weight. Abdominoplasty and post-bariatric mammoplasty are also part of the most frequent procedures presented below:

Crural Reconstruction or Cruroplasty

This technique is indicated in patients who have suffered a significant weight loss, or in patients with obesity. It is usually associated with liposuction of the area.

This surgical procedure improves the appearance of the lower extremities by removing excess skin and fatty tissue that may exist on the inner thighs.

The crural lifting allows to restore the skin turgor of the inner thighs and is normally performed in combination with liposculpture of certain regions of the legs and buttocks, in the same surgical time or in separate phases.

Brachial Reconstruction or Brachioplasty

The brachial lift, or brachioplasty, is the cosmetic surgery used to remove excess skin from the arms making it look smooth and firm. In some cases, if the patient has excess fat in the area, the surgeon may decide to combine brachioplasty with arm liposuction to achieve better results.

Patients who have lost a lot of weight will find the brachial lift the best option to eliminate the rashes that can appear on the arms due to excess skin.

The procedure consists of making an incision in the upper and inner arm. The shape and location of the incision will vary depending on the amount of skin to be removed. Once the fat has been suctioned out, the skin of the arm is tightened and the excess skin is removed from the upper part of the arm. The incision will be closed with stitches and the scar, which the professional will have made in the least visible place possible, will not disappear completely but will fade over the years.

Torsoplasty

Torsoplasty is also known as belt abdominoplasty. This procedure is indicated for patients who have had a large or massive weight loss and who, due to it, present a notable flaccidity in the skin of the back of the trunk, forming folds that accumulate humidity, thus generating infections, irritations and discomfort for the person’s hygiene.

With this procedure, the Plastic Surgeon removes excess skin from the abdomen, hips and thighs. This surgery is extensive and for this reason it is almost always performed alone without liposculpture and requires at least a few days of hospitalization.

It is important for the recovery from this surgery to strictly follow the recommendations and care required by the specialist.
